Morongo Grid Shell, Cabazon, CA

The Casino Morongo project has an iconic entry porte cochere structure that also forms the brand for the hotel. Spanning 120’ the single layer grid shell is derived from petals of a flower and delicately touches down at the center and the tips of each section. This light weight steel structure was custom fabricated in the shop and brought out in sections and bolted in the field. The center of the structure is clad with a tensioned PVC membrane.

The project design creates an icon for the hotel with the structure of the shell with its membrane cladding.
