Interior Concept Design was provided for the public spaces of a Marina-oriented lifestyle retail center along China’s Central coast in Ningbo District. The site, once home to several industrial structures is planned to house a series of retail stores and restaurants, arranged around a yacht harbor and connects to adjacent residential communities .
Taking cues from the industrial past of the site, and evoking the raw energy of a thriving port village, the design executes an artful combination of exposed structure, repurposed materials and found objects, elevating the space within into a canvas of self-expression for street artists, vendors and retail tenants alike.
The design of the Market Hall celebrates the authenticity of materials, expression and content, identifiable with the water-front, indoor-outdoor nature of this Gateway Building to the Retail Village.
The core of the Interior Mall, tucked deep within the heart of the village, is formed from the remains of a historic shed found on the site. This has been lovingly refurbished and transformed into a gathering space bathed in soft, amber light.
