T-30 Umbrella Canopy, Culver City

The form of the Umbrella glass Canopy at the T-30 film company HQ in Culver city was conceived by architect Eric Moss in a physical model which was digitized and brought into Maya to develop the final form and generate the analysis models and fabrication models for the glass panels. The 17 panels are all unique shapes that shingle with a very intricate knuckle fitting that allows for seismic movement and protects the edges of the glass panels from breaking.
